FOLK is a new media content sharing service by the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle, designed to gather content from contributors around the country and make it available on Yle’s web, TV or radio outlets.
Yle aims to single out the latest trends, the newest stars and the greatest presentation concepts from the avalanche of user content that social media in Finland contains today, and make the most noteworthy content available to the entire country.
Yle is also sweetening the deal for anyone interested in submitting content: the possibility to win a small cash prize decided by a jury of their peers. Prize amounts range from just a few hundred euros to two thousand euros per project.
Finland’s public broadcaster Yle operates four national television channels and 13 national radio channels, in addition to 25 regional radio stations.
